Threaded Flange 16.5 Lap Joint Flange With Pipe Connection Type
Lap Joint Flange Information
A lap joint flange with pipe connection type, also known as a lap joint flange with stub end, is a specific configuration of a flange used to connect pipes in a piping system.
A lap joint flange consists of two main components: the flange itself and a separate stub end. The flange has a flat face with bolt holes, while the stub end is a short piece of pipe with a beveled end. The flange and stub end are joined together using bolts and nuts.
The lap joint flange with pipe connection type allows for easy alignment and disassembly of the piping system. The stub end is slipped over the pipe end and then the lap joint flange is positioned over the stub end. The flange and stub end are not welded together, but rather held in place by the pressure of the bolts and nuts.

Advantages & Disadvantages: Applications
The threaded flange joint can be assembled without welding. A pipe, which is furnished with tapered threads at its ends, can be readily assembled with the threaded flange. This feature makes the threaded flange well-suited to extreme pressure services that operate at normal ambient temperatures and in highly explosive areas where welding may create a hazard.
Threaded steel flanges are usually limited to water or air services for sizes NPS 6 (DN 150) or smaller and with design temperature not exceeding 250°F. They are not suitable for conditions involving high temperatures, cyclic stresses, or corrosive fluid. The dimensional tolerances of threaded flange are almost the same as that of Slip on flanges.
